REVIEW: The Roots - Rising Down

When you think about hip hop there are certain words that come to mind; innovative, revolutionary, and evolution.  Well The Roots’ latest album is all that wrapped up into one CD, they like to call it Rising Down.  This my be one of the rawest albums the band has put out since Phrenology, but extremely more politically charged, so its not for the faint of heart.  Some of the most notable tracks if you haven’t heard them already are 75 Bars (Blacks Reconstruction), where Black Thought unleashes a verbal barrage on unsuspecting ill doers and nay sayers.  Another great track is the opening song Rising Down which features Mos Def and Styles P, giving you their rendition of how the world is falling apart and how we as people need to wake up and take notice.  And for all those Go-Go fans out there in the mid-atlantic you’ll love Rising Up which features Chrisette Michelle and DC’s own Wale.  If you’re a fan of the evolution of hip hop, then go pick up The Roots 10th studio album and be prepared to be impressed.
