Blockbuster Trade: Garnett To Boston With Pierce and Allen

garnettboston.jpg

Wow, I’m impressed that the Celtics were able to pull this off. I mean they kept their All-Star, Pierce, acquired Allen on draft day and traded the rest of their team away for Garnett. It seems as if it was pulled off almost too smoothly. Any conspiracies out there? What do you think of this trade?

  1. Damn Damn Damn!!! Just when I thought my Knicks were going to arise from the Atlantic Division’s ashes, Danny “freakin’” Ainge makes some good moves!!! Damn Damn Damn!! Yo Isiah, where’s Artest at???

  2. Danny Ainge is the bomb and Kevin McHale is the ground the bomb landed on. What a great deal for Celtics’ fans. Celtics are pulling up behind the Pistons right now and tappin’ em on the shoulder for the Eastern Conference favorite role in ‘08. Forget the one-year wonder Cavs. Of course, whomever emerges from the East will be evaporated by the Western Conference rep…but at least Boston will return to the playoffs and likely wind up on the verge of another NBA Finals appearance.

  3. It is definitely good for the NBA for the Celtics (and the Knicks and Lakers) to be good. Barring injuries or some other unforeseen catastrophe, this team should make the playoffs and could be as much as a #3 seed.

However, I think that people are taking this thing too far by making them contenders overnight. I know that the East is weak, but Boston was the 2nd worst team in the league.

And what is worst is that the Celtics salvaged their future for it and as soon as this experiment is over, they are right back into the tank

  4. Tariq, excellent point the Celtics being good is quite good for the NBA…also good point worth noting just how bad they were a year ago…my thinking is that no one in the East did a darn to improve themselves…you also are quite correct they mortgaged their future - in draft picks - but as for the players, it would go back to the “just how bad they were” part a year ago. What exactly did they give up player-wise to “win now.” I think ultimately you take one day at a time and at least they’ve righted the ship. Who knows what might happen in the future that could help them soften the blow of giving up the picks…higher cap maybe? Ya never know, right? Heck, I’m in Philly and I can tell you all about stagnant, stuck-in-the-mud organizations!

Hey, the Eagles seem to be doing pretty good for themselves - although the Cowboys will overtake them this year :-)
As for the Sixers, I think they may surprise a few people
