NBA Ref Fixing Games?
This is straight out of a movie, so does art imitate life like 50 says or does life imitate art? The FBI is preparing to arrest an NBA referee and several organized crime associates for fixing the outcomes of games the referee worked in, according to the New York Post. I’m actually pretty surprised they haven’t released a name because this country legal system loves to throw people under the bus and if they turn out innocent, they just release a worthless apology, “hey sorry for ruining your life.” This is going to be interesting to watch unfold, I’m hoping it’s big, anything to take a little pressure off of Vick.
The report says the number of games in which the group won large bets was in the “double digits” and includes games from the past two seasons. Sources told the paper the referee had a gambling problem and wound up indebted to mob-related bookies.The name was not released, but the Post says David Stern has a report on the referee and is aware of the investigation.
I’m a huge NBA fan and I have to say that I wouldn’t doubt this happening. The Ref’s have chips on their shoulders!!
